Son Raises Money to Buy a TV as Birthday Gift for Dad Who Has Cancer

A son raises money to get a TV for dad who has cancer.

The son from Rockford in Illinois, Michael Ruffcorn Jr., organized a GoFundMe campaign to be able to afford his birthday gift for his father.

In his GoFundMe campaign, the son shared how his dad likes to relax while watching TV.

The dad's condition

In 2018, the dad, Michael Ruffcorn Sr., was diagnosed with stage four colon/liver cancer.

For two and a half years, the dad has been battling cancer, and as he is about to celebrate his 60th birthday, he will continue to battle cancer, according to his son.

The dad's 60th birthday

On February 6, Ruffcorn Sr. is going to celebrate his 60th birthday.

However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the family is not going to set any kind of party for their head of the family.

Ruffcorn Jr. shared, "Due to the circumstances, we will not plan to have a big birthday party for my dad."

The birthday gift

Instead of throwing a big party, the son wants to give their father a nice surprise.

He shared in the GoFundMe campaign that he wants to give his dad who has cancer something that he would surely enjoy, "I was hoping to reach and see if we could raise some money to surprise him with a few things that I know he would enjoy."

He asked for the help of the public in raising the funds to buy a new TV for his dad who has cancer.

According to his son, because his father loves to watch TV and relax, he knows that buying him a television will be a nice birthday gift for his 60th birthday celebration.

Son raises money to buy a TV 

Ruffcorn Jr. indicated in the GoFundMe campaign that he would like to get his dad a 60 inch TV. He said, "It's his 60th birthday so would be nice to get at least 60 inch TV."

The son said that his dad is a true inspiration to their family and is a blessing to many that is why he thought he deserves such kind of a gift.

Not only is he excited to pull off the surprise for his dad who has cancer, but also, he intends to make it a surprise for his mom as well. That is why in the GoFundMe campaign he reminded netizens to keep it as a surprise too.

Ruffcorn Jr. intends to raise two thousand US Dollars for a TV as his birthday gift to his dad. 

As of writing, the campaign has already raised more than 800 US Dollars. The son hopes to complete the funds before his dad's birthday on February 6.
