Loki actress Sophia Di Martino is grateful to get the support of the Marvel team who extended efforts to accommodate working moms like her by designing costumes that make breastfeeding easier.

In a post on her social media pages, Di Martino praised the abilities of Christine Wada who made the costume of Sylvie, her superhero character on Loki on Disney+. She revealed that Wada added a special feature to her costume using concealed zippers that allowed her to pump breastmilk and nurse her baby in between the filming of the series.

"Little (big) things like this that made it possible for me to do my job & be a parent," the Loki star said.

Landing Sylvie After Giving Birth

According to reports, Di Martino was cast in the role of Lady Loki, also known as Sylvie, in 2019 but filming took place after she gave birth to her first child with her life partner, Will Sharpe. Marvel's wardrobe people tweaked her costume to make breastfeeding easier so the actress didn't have to keep changing in between takes if she needed to express milk or feed her baby.

Before landing the role, Di Martino told The Hollywood Reporter that she took the risk of sending in her audition tape without going to an in-person audition or a screen test, a standard practice in the business. She was also not able to audition for scenes with the lead star, Tom Hiddleston, as she was heavily pregnant when Loki had been casting and could not travel out of London.

Nevertheless, Di Martino was picked for the role of a lifetime as the disruptive and villainous force in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

"You never get a job of this size off a tape, usually," the actress said. "My agent couldn't believe it."

Di Martino said that she started working on Loki four months after giving birth and felt that she was "very unfit" for a demanding and highly physical job as the female version of the God of Mischief. So, aside from the costume design, the actress also had a lot of help from Loki's stunt and fitness team who trained her get back into shape.

One fan replied to the actress's post and said that it's very important for nursing mothers to still get the same opportunities.
