Turning 18 is a great deal and a breakthrough to adulthood. It is also the time of entering into college. At 18, teens can vote, have a job, buy a house or be in jail. Before going through to another stage of life, parents must equip them with the basic life skills they should have.

Today.com shares the following 8 life skills that 18-year-olds should have and parents must see to it that they have these so that their teens can face the new challenges in their adult life:

1.       Manage His Workloads And Assignments

In a primary and secondary level, parents remind their children to do their assignments and sometimes help them. At 18, your teen must know how to manage his workload, deadlines and assignments. He must be capable of doing those tasks alone.

2.       Know How To Approach Strangers

An 18-year-old must know how to talk to strangers and discern who the good and bad ones are.

3.       Capable of Handling His Emotions

Your teen must be able to manage his emotions whether encountering an interpersonal problem or misunderstandings, being excited or feeling joyful.

The Right Wing News shares a quotation from D-Vega that addresses the 18-year-olds. "Don't have any children or get married until you can support and love yourself first," D-Vega suggested.

4.       Be a Contributor

An 18-year-old must know his duties at home and school. He must help run the household or be a responsible student on campus.

5.       Know Where He Is Going

You drive your kids to their school. Hence, not, this time, an 18-year-old must be able to find his way to school, to the city, in the market or to the places he wants to go.

6.       Accept Life's Ups and Downs 

An 18-year-old must know how to cope with ups and downs of life. These include knowing how to deal with tough bosses and teachers, how to be sports in winning and losing in a competition, and manage the stresses at school or in the workplace.

7.       A Good Steward

An 18-year-old must a good steward of his belongings. He must know how to manage his money and things. And know how to earn and spend money, too.

8.       Must Be Able Taking Risks

Your teen must develop a wise understanding of what he is doing. He must learn when and how to take risks.
