The parents of a 12-year-old boy were arrested after they allegedly moved out and cleared out the home without telling their son, who found an empty house after coming home from school.

After finding the shocking scene, the young boy went to his neighbor and told them what happened, prompting them to call the police. The parents of the child were identified as Erica Renee Sanders and her boyfriend, Keven Dwayne Adams.

The boy reportedly said that his mother and her boyfriend had previously talked about moving out of their home at some point, but never told him that it would happen anytime soon. The neighbor also told officials that the couple had repeatedly kicked the 12-year-old out of the house several times.

When investigators contacted the parents via phone, the couple said that the young boy was supposed to be picked up by his uncle. However, they refused to give authorities the uncle's contact information when asked, according to Local12.

Despite this, officials were able to get a hold of the uncle, who said that he had no idea what kind of arrangement Adams and Sanders were talking about. The couple also refused to tell authorities their new address when they were asked by child protective services.

When they were being questioned, Adams allegedly "complained at length" about his girlfriend's son. Authorities were later able to arrest the couple on charges of abandoning or endangering a child without intent to return, Law and Crime reported.

Couple Arrested by Police

There was a separate incident on Oct. 22 involving a woman who was captured on surveillance video carrying an abandoned baby at New York City's Penn Station. The baby girl, who was described as a newborn, was found wrapped in a blanket at the bottom of a staircase leading to the 1/2/3 train platform.

When authorities found the child, they quickly transported her to a local hospital, with medical professionals saying she was conscious and alert. In a statement, New York City Transit President Demetrius Crichlow called the entire incident the "miracle on 34th Street."

Crichlow added that the child was in stable condition, noting that they did not have additional information to provide the public. However, he did say they are grateful for the work of the New York Police Department (NYPD) for responding quickly and taking care of the abandoned child when she was found all alone, as per 6ABC.
