Victoria's Secret Model Came Close To Mental Disorder: Erin Heatherton Reveals How Weight Loss Pressure Led To Depression
Victoria's Secret model Erin Heatherton reportedly revealed that she was asked to lose more weight and almost became a victim of mental disorder borne from both eating and body issues. Although Erin Heatherton has a 24-inch waistline, Victoria's Secret supposedly felt that the model was not thin enough for their runway show.
Life & Style reports that Erin Heatherton received the feedback about her body weight in her last two Victoria's Secret runway appearances. The Victoria's Secret model reportedly thought she had been preparing well and doing what she ought to for the shows.

Time's Motto relates that Erin Heatherton tried to fulfil her job as a model for Victoria's Secret with a healthy diet and regular twice-a-day exercise. However, because the ante was upped by Victoria's Secret, Erin Heatherton began to experience a struggle where felt resistance from her own body.
Erin Heatherton went through depression because of the pressure from Victoria's Secret combined with her body's reaction to further weight loss attempts. The Victoria's Secret model said she got to a point where she thought she probably should just stop eating.

More than the difficulty, Erin Heatherton realized a sense of accountability to Victoria's Secret viewers. "I realized I couldn't go out into the world-parading my body and myself in front of all these women who look up to me-and tell them that this is easy and simple and everyone can do this," Erin Heatherton said.
Early statistics from Eating Disorder Hope reveals that as many as 10 million females and 1 million males in the US struggle with eating disorders as anorexia nervosa, bulimia and obesity. Unrealistic body expectations propagated in the society are among the reported leading causes of mental health issues such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Not everyone is able to receive help and support to recover from anorexia nervosa, bulimia and obesity.

Although in the beginning, Erin Heatherton was not sure of where her decision would take her, the Victoria's Secret model decided to retire as a lingerie angel for the company. Erin Heatherton weighed the fame and fortune attached to being a Victoria's Secret model against what her body was telling her.
The need to address her health issues eventually won out for the Victoria's Secret model. Erin Heatherton is not the first model to speak out about the undue pressure that the job places on models.
Cara Delevingne, also revealed on Motto her own struggles and difficulties from the unrealistic expectations that models experience. Just like the former Victoria's Secret model, Cara Delevingne decided to take a different path.
