'Mr Robot' Season 2 Air Date, News: Can Rami Malek's Elliot Alderson Help Darlene Out Of A Dark Place? Director Sam Esmail Reveals Fear?

Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson would need to hold Darlene's (Carly Chaikin) hand through a dark place as "Mr Robot" Season 2 returns to the can of worms opened by fsociety with Evil Corp on Five/Nine. Darlene is not the only one in a dark place as "Mr Robot" creator and director Sam Esmail admitted that he himself has fears linked to the hit series led by Rami Malek.

The Verge reports that "Mr Robot" Season 2 is opening strong with an approved 12 episodes this time around. Rami Malek and Sam Esmail will have a chance to establish the impact of Five/Nine by fsociety in a two-episode "Mr Robot" Season 2 premiere.

As "Mr Robot" Season 2 will illustrate, all actions have consequences and - despite best efforts by Elliot Alderson and fsociety - the world has no reboot. Entertainment Weekly points to the highlights of the "Mr Robot" Season 2 trailer, including a haunted Darlene whom Elliot Alderson may need to save.

This poses a delicious premise given a return by Rami Malek to the insanity that is trademark to Elliot Alderson in "Mr Robot." How does schizophrenic Elliot Alderson save everyone around him from going haywire in "Mr Robot" Season 2 when he himself needs saving?

As much as Elliot Alderson and fsociety will try to keep their crimes from catching up with them, Rami Malek will have the added challenge of having his character keep Mr Robot (Christian Slater) from catching up to him. In a burst of optimism, Elliot Alderson believes that if he stays careful in "Mr Robot" Season 2, his criminal alter-ego will go away.

Sam Esmail shares with The Hollywood Reporter that he himself has fears in relation to "Mr Robot." More than anything Sam Esmail hopes to deliver each "Mr Robot" episode in a way that genuinely connects with people.

"The thing I'm scared about is, are we showing it in an authentic way?" Sam Esmail said. "If you're not saying something, then what's the point?"

Sam Esmail brings Rami Malek, Christian Slater and Carly Chaikin back with Portia Doubleday, Martin Wallström and Stephanie Corneliussen in "Mr Robot" Season 2. USA Network will air the "Mr Robot" Season 2 premiere on July 13.
