'True Blood' Latest News & Updates: Musical Broadway Version Rumored To Be In The Works; HBO Hit Series Allan Ball Also Involved

The HBO hit series "True Blood" is reportedly to be revived but not on the small screen as reports claim that a musical Broadway is in the works.

The series has ended after seven seasons and fans might be delighted to know that they could relive their best moments on the theatrical stage. According to Independent, the musical continuation of "True Blood" is said to be in the early stages of development.

There are not much available details about the rumored "True Blood" musical version but it was reported that composer Nathan Barr from the series will be returning to provide the music for the adaptation that will be accompanied by novelist Elizabeth Scott's lyrics.

Also, it was reported that the musical is being workshopped by stage director Pam MacKinnon. The showrunner of the "True Blood" HBO series, Alan Ball, will also be involved in the project. He oversaw all of the seven seasons of the vampire series.

It remains unclear if any of the original characters from "True Bloods" such as Anna Paquin, Bill Compton, and Eric Northman will be appearing in the reported musical Broadway. Paquin is the protagonists on the HBO series and played the role of Sookie Stackhouse. Compton and Northman played Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgård respectively. The two male roles battled for the attention of Stackhouse.

"True Blood" was set in the fictional Louisianan town of Bon Temps. The HBO series' story focused on vampires being inducted into civilization via synthetic blood thus the removal of their need to feed on human blood. The series ran from 2008 to 2014 and also starred Ryan Kwanten, Nelsan Ellis, Rutina Wesley and Denis O'Hare.

It has been reported, however, that Broadway vets Ellen Foley, Ann Harada, and Claybourne Elder wil be working with the production team.

The first act of the musical Broadway version of "True Blood" is said to be 132 pages long so the project is far from being over. More information about this will be released once details are available.
