'God Of War' 4 Release Date, News & Update: Kratos' Story Sequel Will Make 'GOW" Players Dig?

Sony Santa Monica brings Kratos back with "God Of War" 4, after seemingly having turned a new leaf. However, "God Of War" 4 creative director and writer Cory Barlog promised that SIE will make "GOW" players dig for answers.

Parent Herald cites reports on how Kratos generated massive curiosity after showing up at the "God Of War" 4 unveiling in E3 2016 quite different from the anti-hero in the old "GOW." Not only did Kratos show up with a son, but had also seemed temperamentally more calm than the "God Of War" franchise psychopath.

  Naturally, interest over the "God Of War" 4 backstory was plenty. Of the questions among "God Of War" fans are why Kratos is different and how did the "GOW" protagonist come to have a son.

Segment Next cites an interview on EPNdotTV with Cory Barlog in reporting that "God Of War" 4 for heavily influenced by "Resident Evil 4" as the franchise transitioned from "RE 3." "...The expansion and the audience being ready for more mature stories, and not mature as in 'mature,' but really as in dramatically challenging people, to dig a little deeper, not handing all the answers to them," Cory Barlog said.

Perhaps part of this is the desire by Cory Barlog and Santa Monica to allow "God Of War" 4 players to experience Kratos' story by involving them in in the "GOW" hero's internal struggle. PlayStationLifestyle cites Cory Barlog in highlighting that while Kratos' rage meter is still as much a part of the "God Of War" 4 gameplay.

However, Cory Barlog cautions "God Of War" 4 players against abusing the rage meter as Kratos will then lose control of himself. As it is "God Of War" 4 seems bent on getting players invested in the world that the new "GOW" has to offer.
