3-Year Old Daughter Discriminated, School Photo to Blame Says Mom

Amanda Lubiewski was horrified when she saw her daughter not wearing her prescribed eye glasses in the school photos, according to Yahoo! Parenting. The mom was shocked at how school photographers made her daughter do away with her sight lifeline when they knew the repurcussions of such action as three-year old Abby Lubiewksi has in born cataracts. Hence, she does not see anything at all without her glasses.

Amanda could not grasp why the mentioned photographers would treat her child cruelly. She spoke out about the unfair discrimination experienced by her daughter through her Facebook page.

"My baby girl loves her glasses and needs them to function to the best of her ability," she posted. "She is a strong, confident girl and deserves to show off every beautiful part of her, including her glasses."

"Without her glasses, she only perceives light and dark. So she has no vision at all without her glasses," the infuriated mother wrote. "I knew then that she couldn't see, and I couldn't quite comprehend what would be going through someone's mind to ask her to take those off."

The photographers should have found a way to go about making Abby's captured image clear, said Amanda. Moreover, she believes that the photographers could simply fix this matter even with Abby's eyeglasses on.

Amanda further pointed out the dangers caused by this act on her daughter. She said, "This is very unsafe for her because her picture doesn't look like her without her glasses."

The mom further blasted the concerns raised by the photographers regarding the glare that Abby's glasses might bring. "It's not just about getting a cute picture of her," she said in an interview with Fox 2. "It's how she was treated, and how it seems like she was treated differently because there was a part of her that was difficult to photograph."

Amanda shared the message she wrote in a Faceboook letter addressed to the company. She said that she need to tell them " how unhappy we were, and how disrespectful we thought it was that she was treated differently than other children in the school."

In turn, LifeTouch School Photography responded with an apology letter to Abby's mom on the social media site. The letter read, "We should have never had your daughter remove her glasses for the photo, and there is no excuse for that. We would like to offer you retakes free of charge."

The photo in question was taken for Abby's school ID card, according to Yahoo! Canada Shine blog
