Microsoft Ends Lumia Series; Will Soon Start ‘Surface Pro’s’ Phone Series

Microsoft will stop the production of its Lumia Series phone this year. They are planning to end Lumia phones late December this year as they are planning to release Surface Pro's own line of smartphones.

According to Forbes, since the sales for the Lumia Series is dismal, they are stopping  the production of it all together instead of creating a new one. Lumia phones were originally a product of Nokia but Microsoft took over it years ago. Microsoft and Nokia's partnership created the Windows 10 phones hoping it will increase the sales of Lumia phones. However, it never recovered, and now, Microsoft might launch its own mobile series from Surface Pro's and it will be called Surface Mobiles.

Slash Gear said that Lumia phone series never had a noteworthy or an outstanding phone that came out with it. It never really recovered from its dull start. Not even the flagship phones, Lumia 950 and 950 XL saved it from being stopped. This news is not really shocking as only a few people liked the Lumia series. Windows 10 lovers, however, might be sad but not for long.

Press KSS stated that Microsoft just might rebrand Lumia phones into the Surface mobiles. Nothing is confirmed yet. However, Microsoft is now starting to remove Lumia phones and disconnecting it from them. They are replacing it with references to Windows phones. There are also other rumors and reports saying the Lumia phones are being put at the back of Microsoft stores and are not given any emphasis or importance.

Moreover, some staff of a Microsoft store has said that the company is indeed stopping it sales this year. Also, an event in U.K claimed that warranties for the Lumia 950 XL have already stopped. No stocks are available and the production has stopped already. While Lumia series will end, consumers might be in a treat for a better and more advanced Windows 10 phones as Microsoft is gearing up for a launch.
