NBA Free Agency: J.R. Smith Not Going Anywhere; Smith Is Still With The Cavaliers; LeBron James To Help On The Negotiation?

With less than 2 weeks before the NBA training camp starts, J.R. Smith is still unsigned. With no teams trying to make a counter offer, "Smith" is expected to remain part of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers is obviously waiting for J.R. Smith, leaving one spot on their current roster. It would be likely be filled right before the NBA training camp.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, J.R. Smith is looking for a $13 million to a $14 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yet the Cleveland Cavaliers released a qualifying offer of $9.5 million, the Cavaliers are not extending their offer since no team has yet to offer "Smith" a contract.

Though it seems that the Cleveland Cavaliers and J.R. Smith are not on the same page, several basketball analysts are claiming that both parties would likely to meet in a revised agreement. As per the Cavaliers Nations said, LeBron James and J.R. Smith had a good relationship that would help the Cavaliers and "Smith" settle a better contract.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have more than $10 million left on their salary cap space, meaning they can no longer reach J.R. Smith's offer sheet. It could end to a $10 million deal maximum, as the Cavaliers would exceed their salary cap.

J.R. Smith is a big factor for the Cleveland Cavaliers and is playing a great role for the team. With his explosiveness and relentless 3-point shooting, it would be a big loss for the Cavs to let him walk away and play for the opposing team.

LeBron James even claimed that he is very much amazed how "Smith" handles his offensive skills. Smith is not only a threat outside the arc, but also a great rim finisher.

The Cavaliers fans are still hoping that Smith would remain with the team. The way things are going, we may all expect J.R. Smith still wears a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform.
