‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Spoilers: God & Amara Coming Back? Showrunner Says Their Story Is Far From Over

Season 11 of "Supernatural" trained a spotlight on the conflict between siblings God and Amara, known as the light and darkness, respectively. Thankfully, the two powerful forces decided to lay down their arms for a while and reconcile, but viewers should expect to see more of them in the future.

"Supernatural" showrunner Andrew Dabb said they will not dabble on heavy storylines just like the God (Rob Benedict) and Amara (Emily Swallow) one in Season 12. Dabb, however, confirmed that the two celestial beings' story is far from over, though it's "happening off-screen" for now, Entertainment Weekly reported.

At the moment, God is content to stay on the sidelines and put his complete trust on Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki). God knows that he made plenty of mistakes and caused more destruction after Amara's reappearance. He acknowledges that the Winchester brothers saved more lives than him, and he trusts them "more than he trusts himself," EW further reported.

Season 12 of "Supernatural" will tell more of Castiel's (Misha Collins) personal story, particularly about his bond with Dean and Sam and his past, TVLine reported. The angel will also connect with the newly resurrected Mary (Samantha Smith) in the sense that they are both "strangers in a strange land" but feel a deep connection with the Winchester brothers.

Castiel will blame himself for Lucifer's escape and will be in fighting mode as he chases the fallen angel. As usual, Castiel will also find the time to stand by Dean and Sam when they encounter some troubles.

Castiel will also help Dean and Sam deal with their parent's resurrection. Collins said Castiel would push the brothers to "confront the emotional bomb that is their mother showing up," EW reported. Sam will approach Mary's return in a rational way and Dean's will be more emotional, which is not unlike how the duo usually deals with things.

"Supernatural" Season 12 will introduce a new character named Alicia (Kara Royster) in the sixth episode of the upcoming season, according to Variety. Alicia is a hunter and was raised by a witch along with her brother.

Viewers will get to see Aaron Bass (Adam Rose), a Judah Initiative member, in Season 12 again, Parent Herald previously reported. Rick Springfield will also debut as Lucifer's new vessel.
