'Making A Murderer' Season 2 Latest News: Brendan Dassey Plans First 3 Months Of Release To Be With His Mom

"Making a Murderer" subject Brendan Dassey and his lawyers have filed a Motion for Release on Personal Recognizance in Wisconsin. They are asking the courts to grant Dassey his freedom as soon as possible, following the overturning of his conviction in August. If approved, Brendan Dassey plans to stay with his mother for at least three months, as he tries to get his life back in order.

The motion, which was filed last Sept. 14, comes after the state of Wisconsin also sought to appeal Brendan Dassey's overturn, per Parent Herald. But his legal team argues that the 26-year-old "Making a Murderer" subject has had no bad record in his 10 years in prison and that the evidence against him in the murder of Teresa Halbach has been obtained illegally. They defend that Dassey is of no risk to the public, hence must already be released.

The motion also outlines Brendan Dassey's plan to return to society, which will definitely be documented in "Making a Murderer" Season 2. Viewers of the Netflix series might recall that Dassey was just a minor at 16-years-old when he was convicted of being accessory to murder, as seen in "Making a Murderer's" first season.

Outlined in the release plan includes having "Making a Murderer's" Brendan Dassey live with his mother as soon as he gets out of prison. "Petitioner [will] spend the initial one to three months of his release on bond living in a family-owned trailer with his mother in rural northeast Wisconsin," the motion stated, per Rolling Stones. Then, the "Making a Murderer" subject is expected to rent is own place eventually, which "would be initially paid for by his mother and stepfather," until he finds a job. He will also be expected to seek out therapy, education and training as part of his assimilation to society.

"Making a Murderer" directors have earlier released a statement saying that their documentation on Dassey and his uncle, Steven Avery, is far from over in light of recent developments. Netflix has confirmed "Making a Murderer" is returning for Season 2 last July, per Variety.
