Trade rumors are once again surrounding Jahlil Okafor despite Philadelphia 76ers reportedly saying that he, together with Nerlens Noel, will remain with the team for the 2016-2017 NBA season. As per the latest trade rumors, Okafor is set to go to Toronto Raptors in exchange of Kyle Lowry.
Philadelphia 76ers' center, Okafor, is rumored to be acquired by Toronto Raptors due to his standout performance. Also, Philadelphia 76ers might consider trading him for Lowry since they have a crowded front court, Inquisitr reported. Okafor averaged 17.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game last NBA season.
Lowry, on the other hand, has been one of the top players in Toronto Raptors. During the last NBA season, Lowry has averaged 21.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. He was also one of the players for the U.S. team in the Rio Olympics and his skills were all the more highlighted. He could help Philadelphia 76ers regarding their shortage in the backcourt.
Mobile & Apps reported that if the Okafor-Lowry trade would push through, he might play alongside power forward Noel and forward Ben Simmons. Okafor being acquired by Toronto Raptors could help the team fill the void due to the departure of Bismack Biyombo, who is now part of the Orlando Magic NBA team. Okafor might play alongside Jonas Valanciunas and DeMar DeRozan.
Last season, Toronto Raptors was not able to become one of the top contenders as their top player, Valanciunas, suffered from an ankle injury. They went against Cleveland Cavaliers and the latter team won.
Many basketball analysts are also saying that Lowry coming to the Philadelphia 76ers would help the team a lot since he is a veteran of the sport and has been playing for many teams. Okafor coming to Toronto Raptors could mean more rebounding, defense, and offense.
Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, and the two players involved in this report are yet to comment.
