'Sons of Anarchy' Prequel & Spin-Off: Charlie Hunnam's Return Addressed; Kurt Sutter Teases Sweet Surprise

"Sons of Anarchy" prequel hopefuls remain to keep their fingers crossed that fan favorite Charlie Hunnam will reprise his role as Jax Teller. While show creator Kurt Sutter has already confirmed that he is working on a SoA spin-off called "Mayans MC," he still has to give any updates about the rumored prequel.

Sutter has recently tweeted about the development of the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off. The series creator teased fans that he is preparing a sweet surprise that audiences should watch out for. As with any hopes for the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel, fans have taken Sutter's recent post as a hint that Hunnam could be back, Inquistr noted.

Previous reports have claimed that the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will be entitled "First 9." MoviePilot has previously shared the alleged script for the pilot episode and it will reportedly involve Vietnam vets starting a motorcycle club.

The highly anticipated "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will reportedly center on Jax Teller's father, John. It has been previously rumored that A-list actor Brad Pitt will portray the role.

Meanwhile, Hunnam has been pretty open about his involvement with the rumored "Sons of Anarchy" prequel. In a previous interview, he claimed that the project could be underway, but he firmly believes that he will not be part of it. He continued to emphasize that his character was not yet born during the time of the prequel.

As for his involvement in the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off, fans have suggested that it would also be unlikely since "Mayans MC" will most likely take place after the events of SoA season 7 where Hunnam's character died. For now, fans should not get their hopes high that Hunnam will return as Jax Teller.
