‘Supergirl,’ ‘Arrow’ Crossover Teased By Stephen Amell

The CW will feature a massive multiplayer crossover event of its four superhero shows; "Arrow," "The Flash," "Legends of Tomorrow," and the newly acquired "Supergirl;" sometime later this year when the shows return for their news seasons, and now an image has been shared that teases fans on what will probably the closest they will ever get to a World's Finest pairing on live action television.

Gamespot reported that Stephen Amell recently took to Twitter to share an image of the actor in his Green Arrow costume from "Arrow" and Melissa Benoist in her "Supergirl" costume, with the two standing together on what seems to be either a roof top or public vantage point.

As the "Arrow" is pretty much The CW's television series stand-in for Batman, who is currently removed from DC's television plans for various reasons, the image is probably the closest thing to what DC Comics fans will ever get to one of the greatest partnerships in superhero history. That is unless there will be prominent instances of the Green Arrow working together with Superman in the crossover, although that is unlikely since he is a minor character in "Supergirl."

It also remains to be seen if the image was taken from either a shoot of a "Supergirl" or "Arrow" episode in the major crossover event. An individual and separate crossover between the shows by themselves is unlikely, considering that "Arrow" has been announced as taking a more grounded tone in its 5th season; meaning no dimension hopping shenanigans for the Emerald Archer.

Aside from Supergirl and Green Arrow, the other major characters making the crossover are Grant Gustin's Flash and the returning major cast of "Legends of Tomorrow." Considering the fact that "Supergirl" is set in a wholly different dimension from the others, the medium that will bring the four shows together with "Supergirl" are already in place.

As for the new season content of "Supergirl" and "Arrow" not central to the crossover, the former will finally include the appearance of her cousin Superman as well as the Daxamite Mon-El, who was teased at the end of the first season as landing in a pod. Meanwhile "Arrow" season 5 will finally explain Oliver's connection to the Bratva in the flashback sequences as well as have Oliver finally become mayor of Star City in the present day story.
