'Humans' Season 2 Air Date, Teaser & News: Marketing For Return Of Sci-Fi Show Gets Too Real & It's Quite Smart!

"Humans" is returning to the small screen for a second season this fall. In line with its premiere, the show unleashed a marketing campaign around London that has gotten quite realistic. The smart publicity involves an actual product recall for the synths, or the robots with artificial intelligence (AI) featured in the show's main story.

Fictional store fronts and trucks around London were set up for the said recall of the synths from "Humans." Some people didn't initially believe that this was part of a TV series publicity for it was just too real, Creative Review reports.

"Humans," which airs on Channel 4 in the U.K. and the AMC cable network in the U.S.A., has also tied up with Persona Synthetics for the publicity. It's an actual website that explains the "product recall" for synth owners, as some of the AI robots have been found to have exhibited "technical difficulties."

Viewers might recall that during the "Humans" Season 1 finale, a group of synths, who used to be employed as helpers, have "awaken" from their consciousness. It opens the storyline for "Humans" Season 2, where there's a growing tension that these synths could soon uncover a damning conspiracy. Below is a video of one of "Humans'" realistic campaigns.

"Humans" Season 2 will see the return of Gemma Chan as the synth Mia. The new season will follow months after the end of "Humans" Season 1, with Mia and other synths just like her have awaken. Now, Mia has left the family who owns her to start life anew as a cafe worker and has gone largely undetected by the company that developed the synths, per Radio Times.

Her synth friends are also trying to keep themselves undetected in "Humans" Season 2. However, Niska, who is played by Emily Berrington, also remains at large. She has stolen the codes that has led to the synths to be hunted down one by one.

"There's lots of new, society-wide effects which we're going to tell stories in," Sam Vincent, the writer for "Humans" told Digital Spy. "Humans" Season 2 will also introduce new cast additions such as Carrie-Anne Moss, Sam Palladio and Marshall Allman.

"Humans" Season 2 will air first in the U.K. this October. The U.S.A. airing on AMC is expected to follow a few weeks after the U.K. release. Check out the teaser to the series below.
