'The Americans' Season 5 Release Date, News Update: Producers Drop Spoilers? FX Series Ends After S6?

"The Americans" producers Joseph Weisberg and Joel Fields recently dropped a few bombs on the latest season of the FX series. "The Americans" Season 4 ended with the death of two major characters and also a lot of unanswered questions.

While fans await the start "The Americans" Season 5, Weisberg and Fields have already been giving off a few spoilers in an interview with Deadline. Fields revealed that former FBI Secretary Martha, and Philip's second wife, is not yet dead.

In Season 4, viewers of "The Americans" were to left to think that there was a good chance she was. Also, Jennings son, Henry will most likely have a more significant role "The Americans" moving forward.

Lastly, Gabriel and Claudia will make a return as Soviet handlers. Fields also revealed that in "The American" Season 5, tensions will rise between Stan and Philip since their suspicions about each other are growing. However, there will be an unexpected twist that will happen between the two.

"The American" Season 5 is set to premiere in the Spring 2017 according to Premiere Date. The producers have also revealed that the season will have a total of 13 episodes once it takes off.

As for a sixth season, Weisberg and Fields have also revealed that they will be focusing on a sixth season soon after their work in "The Americans" Season 5. They also reported that they are planning to make the sixth season have a total of 10 episodes.

"The Americans" Season 6 is scheduled to air in 2018. Possibly "The Americans" Season 6  will be the final season of the show.

"The Americans" is a TV series that is currently aired on cable network FX. The story is set in the eighties during the Russian Cold War.

"The Americans" star Keri Russell as Elizabeth and Matthew Rhys as Philip Jennings, who are two Soviet officers under the guise of a regular American couple. "The Americans" also stars Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), who is an FBI agent working for the counterintelligence department of the organization.
