'Cyberpunk 2077' Release Date, News Update: CD Projekt Game Bigger Than 'The Witcher 3?'

Polish developer CD Projekt RED, known for creating "The Witcher" franchise, is now working on their next new game, "Cyberpunk 2077." Following the success of The Witcher trilogy, CD Projekt now aims to focus its expertise in another RPG of a different genre, science fiction.

Although there hasn't been much news on "Cyberpunk 2077" yet, Digital Trends gives us an overview of what this new game will be like. First off, the setting of the game is in 1990 in a dystopian universe.

"Cyberpunk 2077" would include characters that can make use of a whole range of weapons as well as cyborg and robot tools. Those who are familiar with the original "Cyberpunk" series, created by Mike Pondsmith, will see very familiar elements in this new game but with a few modern twists.

It is not known whether "Cyberpunk 2077" will be a remake of the original "Cyberpunk 2020." However, it is known that "Cyberpunk 2077" will be adding many more features as compared to the original.

As for the release date of "Cyberpunk 2077," nothing has been concrete yet on the side of CD Projekt. However, according to iDigital Times, CD Projekt is aiming to have a "Cyberpunk 2077" release date to the public this 2016.

At the latest, the gaming studio will be announcing the release date of "Cyberpunk 2077" by 2017. Other than that, everything is still under wraps.

Fortunately, CD Projekt has been giving some teasers about the game. A teaser trailer was released last 2013 for the game showing a cyborg woman facing what appears to be a SWAT team. This is the first trailer provided to the public and one of the many that will be coming out following the release of the game.
