Hero Colorado Police Officer Sings Toddler a Lullaby After Father Dies in Car Crash

Colorado Police Officer was caught on camera comforting a little girl who survived a fatal car crashed that led to the death of her father.

On Thursday, Nick Struck was on patrol when he was dispatched to a fatal car accident on Interstate 76 in Brighton. The accident happened at around 9:30 a.m. There were six people in the vehicle that rolled over. All of them were ejected from the car, 9News reports.

The victims include two adults and four children. The man on the wheels was declared dead on the scene. The woman and a child were airlifted to the hospital, while the remaining children were taken by ambulance.

The youngest of the four children was a 2-year-old girl, whom the paramedics handed to Struck as they tried to revive the other victims.

The next incident had gained Struck popularity. The police officer was spotted singing a lullaby to the baby girl who was crying.

According to Struck, the little girl was soaked with gasoline and she was crying. Struck also has a two-year-old daughter whom he described as the sweetest thing in the world. He remembered that every time his daughter cries, he comforted her by singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" so he sang the same song to the little girl, KTLA 5 reports.

Jessa Matrious was behind the SUV before it rolled over. According to Matrious the car blew a tire and it lost control.

"They took an extreme sharp right turn and just immediately started to roll," Matrious said.

She ran to the area to see if she could do anything to help, but what she captured was the emotional moment of Struck with the child.  She saw the officer trying to keep the child from looking behind them and she observed that the child relaxed as he sang softly.

The photo of the officer and the child taken by Matrious went viral. It was shared over thousands of time on social media, WTHR has learned.

Struck was grateful for Matrious for taking the photo and sharing it. It gives others the chance to see that such instances happen on a daily basis but mostly uncaught in the lens.

It was a bad timing for Struck, especially that Father's Day was approaching at that time. Initially, Struck just wanted a simple celebration for Father's Day because it fell on the same day as his 31st birthday.

According to TODAY, the incident bothered Struck, he cannot forget the little girl who was left fatherless because of the accident.

"That moment will definitely affect me for the rest of my life," the police officer said. "Every girl needs her dad, but I'm happy I was able to be there to help get her through that emotional day."
