'Supergirl' Season 2 Premiere: Superman, Mon-El, Project Cadmus & Everything To Know

"Supergirl" Season 2 is finally launching on The CW on Monday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. There's a lot of changes expected from the sophomore series on its new network, such as the coming of Superman, the introduction of Mon-El and the secrets of Project Cadmus. Here's what viewers have to know before the show begins this week.

The appearance of Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) on "Supergirl," has been hyped all throughout the summer, but the Man of Steel will be in the show's first two episodes only. Kara/Supergirl's (Melissa Benoist) more famous cousin shouldn't overshadow the Girl of Steel in her own show, and he's only in town to help her control a major catastrophe.

"We've spent a year establishing her, and the year ended triumphantly with her saving the world, so there wasn't any sort of doubt that Supergirl couldn't do it on her own," said "Supergirl" executive Andrew Kreisberg in an interview with IGN. But it's not just Superman arriving to Earth to make things a lot more interesting for "Supergirl," as there's Mon-El (Chris Woods). He is the being inside the pod that crashed on Earth in "Supergirl" Season 1.

Kara/Supergirl will serve as Mon-El's guide on Earth, thus fulfilling her original purpose of looking after her cousin, Kal-El/Superman. "Ironically, now because of Mon-El, she's finally getting to do that, because she kind of got cheated out of that by destiny," Kreisberg said, via Moviefone.

As for Project Cadmus, what the goal is for this organization on "Supergirl" is still unclear, but it will be the show's ongoing plot for Season 2. President Marsdin (Lynda Carter) will be instrumental in this plot line as well, as she introduces the Alien Amnesty Act. "She very much believes in this cause, which is going to put her in danger, which is going to necessitate Supergirl protecting her," Kreisberg said in another Entertainment Weekly report.

Meanwhile, changes at work in Supergirl's regular life as Kara, will also affect the show's new direction in Season 2. Viewers will get to meet new characters Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez), Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) and Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) at Kara's workplace at CatCo.
