Mariah Carey, James Packer Divorce: Carey 'Too Traditional,' Sleeps In Separate Bed With Ex-Fiance

Mariah Carey, the sensational hit singer of "Visions of Love," was dumped and duped by James Packer, her billionaire ex-fiancee last month. In a report from E! News, Packer announced their break up without Carey's knowledge. Rumors said that Carey had no idea that her engagement was over, and after seeing Packer's announcement in the news, Carey supposedly broke down in tears.

The reason of the break-up is still unclear. According to The Sun, Packer got tired of Carey's traditional stand in marriage, and could not stand the tension any longer. Nick Cannon, who was Carey's ex-husband and the father of Carey's twins, is a first-hand witness of Carey's belief in the no-sex-before-marriage thing, and waited patiently for Carey until after they were married.

Packer and Carey supposedly had separate rooms, but were like teenagers who can't get enough of each other, even displaying a very public display of affection, while they were still together, a report from TMZ said lately. Carey probably believed that they belonged together.

Maybe Carey's traditional stand in marriage is the reason for Packer's hurried proposal to Carey after their whirlwind romance? Another speculation as to what went wrong with the ex-couple's engagement is Carey's splurging and expensive taste. Carey was supposedly draining the billionaire's billions when shopping.

Then there is also Carey's Diva behavior. Reports say that while the couple was sailing somewhere in the world in one of Packer's yachts, Carey threw one of her famous tantrums when Packer played a Beyonce song, "Crazy in Love" to be specific just to get Carey in the mood for some loving. Carey reportedly went wild and threw out the speakers along with the music player out the window. So much for drama after Packer's hope for a romantic rendezvous.

There was also the allegations and accusations of Mariah getting cozy with her backup dancer, Brian Tanaka. But according to sources, their relationship is completely platonic, as Tanaka had Carey's back through all the years, and has great respect for the singer.

Another supposedly major reason for their break-up was that Packer, according to some sources close with Carey, was as insensitive as he was rich to Carey's feelings. Packer was reportedly overwhelmed with Carey's demands. While they were on vacation in Greece, Packer had an outburst and was heard by many when he said that he was not sure if he was capable of handling Carey, when he can't even take care of his own children.

In a report from Us Magazine, the fight that finally led to the demise of their short-lived fairy tale was not because of Carey's cheating or splurging.

Sources close to the Diva state that Packer was 'unknown' before he was romantically linked to Carey. Packer has led a private life and was overshadowed by other people around him. But he became an instant celebrity while dating Carey. Though he repeatedly stated that he hated the limelight, Packer was seen posing for pictures and does not seem to mind the paparazzis.
