‘Outlander’ News & Update: Author Diana Gabaldon Confirms Book Series Is Ending With Its 10th Book

Beloved time-traveling couple Claire Randall and Jamie Frasier's story is coming to an end. During her appearance in EWPopfest, "Outlander" series author Diana Gabaldon revealed that the book series would probably end with its 10th novel.

It's been twenty-five years since the first book in the "Outlander" series came out and with the ninth novel in the works; fans have a lot of question for author Diana Gabaldon. One of such questions revolves around the first scene in the first book.

The scene in question is when Frank Randall, while outside the inn he and Claire are staying in, sees Jamie Frasier looking at Claire through the window. It was a very mysterious occurrence and "Outlander" creator Diana Gabaldon said that it would all be clarified during the last book of the series, which unfortunately is the tenth one.

The "Outlander" series currently has eight books with the eight book, "Written In My Own Heart's Blood", released last June 14, 2014. The upcoming ninth book entitled "Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone" has no publication date yet.

The "Outlander" series also has a spin-off series with "Outlander" character Lord John Grey as its lead. With the end in sight, "Outlander" author Diana Gabaldon is also releasing a set of novellas to tide the fans over while waiting for the ninth book.

The popularity of the "Outlander" series sprung a popular television show produced by Starz. The "Outlander" TV series has just finished two seasons with the third season coming next year. "Outlander" author Diana Gabaldon made a cameo appearance during the first season of the "Outlander" TV series as Iona MacTavish. She is also a consultant for the show and wrote the screenplay of "Outlander" season 2 episode, "Vengeance Is Mine".
