‘The Winds Of Winter’ Release, News & Update: George R.R. Martin Admitted To Reason For Slower Writing? 6th ‘ASOIF’ Launching 2018?

George R.R. Martin allowed a peek into factors that align "The Winds Of Winter" ("TWOW") release date for 2018. Fans of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" saga (and its tv adaptation "Game Of Thrones" on HBO) hoped for a 2016 release of the sixth "ASOIF" novel. However "The Winds Of Winter" is optimistically launching in 2017, but realistically in 2018.

"ASOIF" and "Game Of Thrones" fans are understandably excited over the launch of "The Winds Of Winter." Excitement peaked when an internal December 2015 for George R.R. Martin opened the possibility of "The Winds Of Winter" launching before "Game Of Thrones" Season 6 premiered in April 2016.

George R.R. Martin was unable to deliver "The Winds Of Winter" before April 2016, but "ASOIF" and "Game Of Thrones" fans believed that GRRM could still release "TWOW" by December 2016. Indications, however, point to George R.R. Martin following the more organic release schedule for "The Winds Of Winter," which is in 2018.

In an earlier interview with The Independent, George R.R. Martin spoke about factors that may be playing into "The Winds Of Winter" launch progress. According to George R.R. Martin, "A Song Of Ice And Fire" has become a complex saga over the years and cross referencing for the later "ASOIF" novels has become a challenge.

George R.R. Martin is also mapping plans for "The Winds Of Winter," as he does with all his books, inside his head. Although George R.R. Martin keeps soft copies of notes and files on his books, the "Game Of Thrones" author keeps the main threads inside his head.

However with five "ASOIF" books in the saga - and each one practically bigger than the previous as Parent Herald cites - keeping "The Winds Of Winter" details straight has become a challenge. George R.R. Martin said that he makes mistakes because of the complexity of the "ASOIF" saga.

"The Winds Of Winter" is expected to be larger than "A Dance With Dragons," which has 1056 pages. "Maybe I take a little more time in reviewing what I did last week or last year or three years ago," George R.R. Martin told The Independent.
