'Flash' Season 3 Episode 5 Recap: Last Episode Features Barry And Julian's Relationship

Episode 5 of the 3rd season of "The Flash" gave special attention to Barry and Julian's relationship. While it is not unknown to many that the two are from far best friends, the new episode suggests that they might just be on their way to a progressing friendship as it highlighted a bonding moment between Julian Albert and Barry.

Bustle reports that Barry tried to make an effort to get to know Julian a little better after Julian complained about him to the chief. Barry then commended Julian's work, hoping that things could get a little better. With the time they spent together, Barry discovered and heard from Julian himself that the reason why he hates metahumans so much is simply because Julian is jealous of them. Barry and Julian's bonding on "The Flash" began after Julian admitted this ongoing jealousy.

While in most of the episode, Barry and Julian were trying to find a way to stop a monster that was ravaging Central City, they also conversed and somewhat hung out in between work. In fact, aside from admitting that he's jealous of metahumans, Julian also revealed that he thinks metahumans are nothing but a waste of superpowers since most of them engage in crimes.

According to CBR, Julian's jealousy of metahumans causes him to feel frustrated, with him almost killing a teenager behind the monster attacks. Fortunately, the Flash arrived just in time to save the teenager, and this might have just changed Julian's perspective on metahumans. The episode ends with Barry and Julian drinking after work and Julian agreeing to share the lab with Barry a little longer.

While it's too early to say whether Julian is Barry's ally or if the circulating theory that Julian is actually Doctor Alchemy is true, it seems that for now the tension between Julian and Barry has been cut. Julian could be Barry's friend, or Julian could be another enemy of the Flash. A lot can happen in an episode, and definitely more within a season, so, we'll just have to keep on watching and who knows what surprise "The Flash" has in store for us.
