'Humans' Season 2 News & Updates: Better Than 'Westworld' On HBO? Without Nudity & Orgies Artificial Intelligence Series Still Delivers

AMC's "Humans" premiered a year ahead of HBO's "Westworld" on television. But as both shows are about artificial intelligence and synths, comparisons have been unavoidable.

"Westworld" on HBO has been bold enough to show full frontal nudity and orgies to emphasize on its theme and tone. Viewers say that while "Humans" doesn't have such scenes, it still delivers a compelling story about robots.

Express notes that in the most recent episode of "Westworld," a four-minute orgy felt a lot like a gimmick. The graphic depiction could entice more people to watch and take notice. Yet "Westworld," in general sense, is seemingly more disconnected from its viewers compared to "Humans" because everything happens inside a theme park.

On the other hand, "Humans" charts a more conceivable premise despite being a science fiction. Because the synthetic humans interact in the real world, it resonates familiarity with viewers. On that note, the show works better at expounding what artificial intelligence can potentially become than a high profile and highly budgeted series like "Westworld."

"Humans" producer and co-creator Sam Vincent said that they are not worried about the comparisons to "Westworld." He believes TV can accommodate more shows about artificial intelligence, especially with today's digital world.

"I think that this area is so at the forefront of the public consciousness that there is room for two shows about it," he told Radio Times. The rest of the cast also welcome "Westworld's" entry on television, citing that they do watch the HBO series as well.

Meanwhile, as shown during the premiere of "Humans" last Sunday, Oct. 30 on Channel 4 in the U.K., the premise for the new season has gone global. It introduced American tech experts like Milo Khoury (Marshall Allman) and Dr. Athena Morrow (Carrie Ann Moss), who are developing and discovering how synths behave. Digital Spy reports that the new cast is part of a bigger story.

"Humans" is airing ahead in the U.K. but it will be kicking off on U.S. television via AMC in February 2017. Pick up more news and updates about the show by checking back to this site regularly.
