Toddler Died During Nap Time In Day Care Center, 2 Staff And The Owner Arrested

A toddler was found unresponsive during nap time, but the caregivers did not call 911 on Oct.5. Three Fontana day care workers were arrested Tuesday due to death of baby Deacon, 1.

Sagan Marriott, 27, Rebecca Lutz, 29, and Deborah Jimenez, 52 are now in the hands of Fontana Police as they allegedly charged with child endangerment. Baby Deacon died when he was found during nap time breathless.

The toddler's Day Care death investigation took longer than a month after the 18-month-old was discovered unresponsive inside the Little Impressions Day Care (or Marriott Family Child Care) at 6800 blocks of Royal Crest Pl. Police discovered upon investigating that Marriott and Lutz found Deacon unresponsive and called Jimenez instead of immediately calling 911.

The daycare staff said that an amber teething necklace that her son was wearing strangled him during a nap. Deacon was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Life support was taken off a few days later, as reported by ABC 7.

The cause of Deacon's death is not yet clear. Police are still studying the mystery behind it. But the accused remained behind bars for irresponsibility.

Danielle Morin, Deacon's mother, Fontana police pointed out that the care center has another irresponsibility along with the failure to tactfulness in emergencies. They found that there were many more children there and then than what is allowed by law.

Authorities said that Jimenez regularly sent children to the Marriott facility. These leads to overcrowding at the daycare and set more than the allowed number of kids.

The State of California lincensed the Daycare, Department of Community Care Licensing to accommodate at least four infants. When the incident happened, there were six kids logged in along with 12 other children.

Upon recklessly exceeding the licensing regulations by over four times, the arrested women are being charged with endangering the lives and safety of the children under their care; Fontana Police told NBC.
