Dodgers Latest News: Kenley Jansen, Justin Turner Contracts Extended; Qualifying Offers Turned Down For Better Deal?

The Los Angeles Dodgers extended a $17.2 million one-year qualifying offer to their star free agent pitcher Kenley Jansen and third baseman Justin Turner on Monday. However, rumors reveal that they will turn down the qualifying offers and probably would find at least a four-year deal on the free agent market.

Inside Dodgers reported that Dodgers Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner have approximately seven days to formally accept or turn down the qualifying offer. If both Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner turn it down, they will be open to discussing with a better contract to all 30 majors league teams.

Dodgers Kenley Jansen had a career high with 47 saves, 104 strikeouts, and 11 walks in 68 ⅔ innings. Jansen was considered as the National League's best closer and recently received the Trevor Hoffman Award.

Justin Turner, on the other hand, had a career year at age 31 with his 27 home runs and 90 runs batted in creating a huge impact to the Dodgers. Turner held a record of 34 doubles, 153 hits, 274 total bases, and 151 games played. Turner became a finalist for a Gold Glove Award at third base for the first time just by remaining and excelling at one position in the team.

According to True Blue LA, Dodgers Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner were expected to decline the extended qualifying offers to find a better contract. Jansen and Turner were both placed among the top players in the free agent's list on the market this winter.

At that point, Jansen and Turner will be free to sign with any club that has interest on both of them and the Dodgers will receive a compensatory pick in the 2017 draft instead.

The value of the Dodgers qualifying offer had an average $15.8 million. With this $17.2 million rise, the Dodgers showed the value of Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner to remain to play in the team.

Do you think Kenley Jansen and Justin Turner should reject the qualifying offers and look for a better contract? Or will they staying with the $17.2 million one-year contract extension with the Dodgers?
