From Hospitals To 'Homes-pitals': Why Humanity Might Not Be Needing Hospitals In 2030

Technology has changed the way we live the world before we know it. It has provided so many advances for humanity's day-to-day lives, and soon, it might pave the way in replacing several institutions we deem important since time immemorial like hospitals. By 2030, it was foreseen that hospitals will no longer be needed, thanks to technological advancements here and there.

A few decades from now, hospitals will be replaced with "home-spitals" as predicted by World Economic Forum's Future Council co-chairman, Dr. Melanie Walker, in a Forbes report. Although the future is uncertain for the medical world, the doctor is confident that it will run towards a bright path. This shift can reportedly be attributed to the massive changes in technology, robotics, communications, biology and genetics.

Now that technology has improved the medical world on such a large scale, operations have become less intrusive, ingestible Microbots will be replacing traditional surgeries as it will conduct automated procedures and operations. Moreover, there will be an end to the long lines of organ donation requests as 3D printing has progressed in mimicking artificial tissues, organs and even bones.

In the future, the neuroscientist further said that there will be no frequent need to visit the doctor as health monitoring will soon be possible through smartphones. Brain implants will do the doctors' job and it will analyze a person's symptoms and transfer its data directly on a smartphone. Health data will be kept in its storage and drugs can be printed out as an official doctor's prescription.

Even the future of pharmacy is predicted to be replaced with robotics. According to CNBC, pill-packing robots are now employed behind pharmacy counters and who knows? Maybe soon enough, it can replace a licensed pharmacist in the future and can even stale out the need of one.

One doctor and TV personality in London, Dr. Hillary Jones, is even reported to be giving virtual consultations. As per Daily Express, the OB Gynecologist utilizes a robot to diagnose an individual's health condition for free.
