Why Women Should Not Smoke During Pregnancy

Smoking cigarette is already dangerous that it could jeopardize a person's lungs. Lung cancer is not the only disease that smoking could give but even diabetes, and even cardiac arrest, not to mention other cancer-related conditions as well. But aside from the common deadly diseases, smoking could also make pregnancy even harder for expecting mothers. It could affect both the woman carrying the child and the unborn fetus inside.

In an article published by My Fox 8, expecting mothers who are smoking during their pregnancy are more likely to experience miscarriage than those who are non-smokers. There are many health related issues that a pregnant woman could encounter if she won't stop smoking and one of these is linked in the placenta. These is crucial since this is where the unborn child gets his oxygen while inside the womb.

Once the placenta is damaged, there is a huge chance that it would part ways from the womb. It is not a good thing because that is a sign that the baby could come out prematurely. For those who are asking if e-cigarettes are any better, the answer is no. If it involves smoking, then it would still affect the unborn child in a dreadful way. Doctors are even saying that smoking is the main reason why babies could come out unhealthy when their mother was inhaling chemicals from it during pregnancy.

The site Baby Center also confirmed the many underlying dangers of smoking to both the mother and her child. Just imagine the tobacco itself has a lot of chemicals in it, and your baby is pretty much taking them all in with their undeveloped immune system.

Women are encouraged to as much as possible stay away from smoking before it is too late that their child would suffer from it. Share this information with your loved ones now!
