‘The Blacklist’ Season 4, Episode 9 Spoilers & Promo: Season 5 Confirmed? Dangerous Mole Betraying Red!

Shocking twists and turns will be served when "The Blacklist" Season 4 returns in January. Red (James Spader) will face a shocking betrayal from a dangerous mole in his team.

In the promo for episode nine of "The Blacklist" Season 4, the team discovers that there is a mole among them and he/she is a huge threat not just to the group, but to the national security as well. Watch the promo below. "The Blacklist" Season 4 returns for episode nine on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 on NBC.

Red will not take the issue of this betrayal lightly. The man has strong feelings against betrayal, which was evident in how he dealt with Ms. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) about Liz's (Megan Boone) faked death. "The Blacklist" viewers should expect a gripping episode nine as the team scrambles to uncover his/her identity.

"The Blacklist" executive producer Jon Bokenkamp promised "a new, really compelling story" in the second half of Season 4, Entertainment Weekly reported. Bokenkamp added that "the seeds for this new story were planted some time ago."

The midseason finale of "The Blacklist" Season 4 ended with Red escaping Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) capture. While he was being tortured by Kirk, Red admitted that he is Liz's father and whispered something in Kirk's ear that startled him, Parent Herald previously reported.

There are speculations that Red's whispered statement had something to do with Liz's mother, Katarina Rostova (Lotte Verbeek). Red may have revealed to Kirk that Katarina is still alive.

Whatever Red whispered to Kirk was, Bokenkamp said that "The Blacklist" viewers won't be privy to that information because it was a secret shared by the two men who loved Katarina. Bokenkamp said that the audience won't see Kirk again, though he didn't confirm what became of him after he spared Red's life. Kirk is either dead or was saved by Red using Dr. Adrian's advanced medical technology.

Fans clamoring for a Season 5 renewal are in for a treat. Speculations strongly suggest that "The Blacklist" will return for a fifth season, with TVLine's 2017 Renewal Scorecard report saying that a Season 5 for the NBC series is "a safe bet."
