‘Pokémon Sun And Moon’ Update: What’s New With The Refreshing Reinvention Of Iconic Pokémon Game?

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" is a breath of fresh air with Niantic's new take on the classic Pokémon franchise. Players are thrilled with the reinvention of the iconic game where Poké players train and fight to become the very best no one ever was.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" kicks off with the basics of the Pokémon franchise where a player takes the point-of-view of an 11-year-old trainer who begins a journey to become the greatest Pokémon master. With the iconic Pokémon blueprint in place, The Guardian noted that Niantic has filled "Pokémon Sun and Moon" with unique features and surprising twists.

From the classic Pokémon setting in the Kanto region, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" takes its players to the islands by the sea. "Pokémon Sun and Go" is set in four beautiful islands of Alola. The Hawaiian-inspired islands is the home of many new iterations of the well-loved Pokémons of the previous generations.

The most notable twist in "Pokémon Sun and Moon" is the absence of gyms. Instead, trainers are required to overcome a series of island trials against island Captains that ultimately lead to a battle with the island Kahuna. In lieu of the classic gym badges, island trials reward victors with Z-Crystals which contain powerful Z-moves which Pokémons can learn.

"Pokémon Sun and Go" also features a "Call for Help" move among its wild Pokémons. The new skill allows wild Pokémons to call for another Pokémon to battle at their side when in duress.

Perhaps the most anticipated twist in "Pokémon Sun and Moon" is the feature which indicates the effectiveness of the Pokémon's move in the battle interface. The new "Pokémon Sun and Moon" upgrade keeps a record of the effectiveness of each type of move against every type of Pokémon. A handy upgrade for every Poké trainer.

We recall a Parent Herald feature on the negative reception of a "Pokemon GO" update. Will Niantic's refreshing take on "Pokémon Sun and Go" be Pokémon's salvation? Your thoughts?
