Bob Dylan Nobel Prize Award: Why Can’t He Attend? Will Dylan Give A Nobel Prize Lecture At 2017 Concert?

Critics now brand the singer-song writer Bod Dylan a "No-show." This was after Dylan announced earlier this week that he will be absent from the Nobel Prize awarding ceremony come December 10.

Early in November, we can recall a previous Parent Herald article which featured Bob Dylan who was still on the verge of deciding if he would be receiving the Nobel prize in person after being proclaimed last October 13. Dylan was then criticized as "impolite and arrogant" because of his failure to recognize the honor on top of this hesitation.

And as Bob Dylan confirms he cannot go, criticism on his receipt of this award has just gotten bigger. Critics brand him as a "No-show" and that he is really unworthy of the Nobel Prize.

According to New Musical Express, the Swedish Academy have just responded to the pressing concern of Bob Dylans' no-show in the upcoming awarding. It was through the Academy that people learned of Bob Dylans' confirmation that he wouldn't be receiving the Nobel Prize himself.

The Academy further explained that Bob Dylans' absence during the awarding ceremony was due to a previous commitment. Critics discredit Dylan's reason pointing out that he has no pre-existing live shows scheduled in the following months. However, even if his absence is permissible, It is otherwise incumbent upon him to deliver a Nobel Lecture.

Bob Dylan is expected to deliver the lecture as presumed by the Swedish Academy. This lecture is the only requirement in order to validly receive the prize. The said lecture must be given by the awardee Bob Dylan within six months starting Dec.10, 2016.

Moreover, the academy has finalized that there won't be an alternative plan for the lecture which is usually held on December 7. In light of this issue, Bob Dylan will be performing in Stockholm next year in spring, where he might probably deliver his lecture. ;
