‘Game of Thrones’ Spin-Off Is Called ‘Tales of Tyrion’? HBO Wants New Material As George RR Martin Fails To Finish ‘Winds of Winter’

"Game of Thrones" Season 8 is going to be the series finale, but a spin-off series is reportedly under discussions. The news came as fans are still waiting for "The Winds of Winter" to hit the shelves.

"A Song of Ice and Fire" author George RR Martin and cable channel HBO are looking into new materials that would expand the "Game of Thrones" series. According to The Guardian, Casey Bloys, the programming president at HBO, confirmed that there already "preliminary ongoing talks" regarding the next steps for the fantasy TV series.

George RR Martin also told Entertainment Weekly back in April that should HBO become interested, there is certainly no lack of prospective materials. "Every episode of The Naked City - one of the television shows I watched as a kid - ended with a voiceover: 'There are 8m stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.' There are 8m stories in Westeros as well ... and even more in Essos and the lands beyond. A whole world full of stories, waiting to be told - if indeed HBO is interested," he said.

With that, The Guardian listed a couple of possible spin-off stories of the "Game of Thrones." One of these possibilities could be "Tales of Tyrion." Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, is a favorite character and fans would love to see more of him. The witty and wise epic hero also Martin's favorite character to write. The "Tales of Tyrion" would tell the early years in the life of the imp and his own adventures in the Seven Kingdoms.

The "Game of Thrones" TV series have already gotten ahead of the stories already told in the books. Until now, there is no official announcement regarding the release date of the next "A Song of Ice and Fire" book titled "The Winds of Winter." There are all sorts of speculations and rumors that "The Winds of Winter" is already in the proofreading stage and might hit the shelves before the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premieres in summer 2017.
