Battlefield 1 Fall Update Review: Gamer Backlash Over Graphics Downgrade, DICE To Release Newer Update Soon?

The latest update for DICE's Battlefield 1 has garnered quite a number of not-so-awesome reviews, following complaints regarding the multiplayer game's visual effects. Although most PC players have shared unhappy reactions via social media, some are still saying to give Battlefield 1 developers a second opinion on what other aspects matter for the said game.

Visual differences shared by PC gamers were quickly pointed out, however, DICE has also responded almost right away to these complaints. Producer David Sirland stated that some tweaks were necessarily made in the game to allow all else to run smoothly. Talk about real-time upgrades, right?

Mainly, the update was compared to a downgrade and that it was a worse update ever done to the history of Battlefield 1. Lower HBAO+, diminished terrain quality, as well as low shadow resolution were among those pointed out, in a DSOGaming post. Bushwick36 said that he checked his settings following the update and took some images for comparison. He posted his observations in the Battlefield 1 forum.

He further noted on the first image showing different weather conditions. Well, the differences are clearly visible enough, based on these images. Still, some went on to likened the visual errors to that of Battlefield 4. DICE's Sirland went on to say that performance issues noted on Battlefield 1 are already being worked on as top priority by its developers. NVIDIA drivers may have also caused some of the differences noted on PCs.

Newer Battlefield 1 Updates

Meanwhile, senior concept artist Robert Sammelin expressed his gratitude for the reception given to Battlefield 1 during Gamescom 2016. He also mentioned the games' new classes for PC and other gamers to choose from, like the Cavalry, Pilots, Tank and an Elite class, in an iDigital Times interview.

Other Battlefield 1 updates can be accessed via the Battlefield 1 community forums. Whatever the current issues are, we're sure DICE can't wait to release more update notes soon enough.
