Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’: Watch The Heart Piercing First Trailer!

A nostalgic sight to behold, Martin Scorsese's "Silence" masterpiece teaser brought some goosebumps into those who happened to watch it. It certainly does capture the attention of moviegoers including those who are not religious. It is more of a reality in the world history than just biblical - that should not be missed.

The trailer of the religious drama, starring Andrew Garfield, who is tortured with Adam Driver while looking for Liam Neeson who disappeared was shown online early this week. Paramount Pictures also showed the teaser to Robert Zemeckis' "Allied," movie which was shown since last Tuesday.

"Silence" is about two Portuguese Jesuit priests, portrayed by Driver and Garfield, who were prosecuted at the most brutal ways like unbearable torture. Their travel throughout Japan to convert the locals to Christianity while finding their mentor, acted out by Neeson resulted to their mind-boggling struggles and agony, according to Variety.

Liam Neeson plays Father Cristóvão Ferreira who abandoned his faith after experiencing extreme torture by the fierce regime in those times. The trailer hinted a bad omen that is going to happen amidst images of violence and heart-piercing execution. A warning was noted that once you step your foot into that country, you are not safe!

Shusaku Endo wrote the novel where "Silence" is adapted from that was published in Japan sometime in 1966. The cast can't afford to go easy go lucky on this once that they all went to Taiwan for the 8-months preparation.

Adam Driver cannot hide his decreased weight after losing 50 pounds after intense training for the part. Andrew Garfield opted to attend a retreat at St. Beuno's, a Jesuit house in Wales for mind and spirit conditioning. He just wished that he has ten years to prepare for the role. "Silence" hits theaters on December 23, Rolling Stone noted.
