Google Nexus 7 2016: New Tablet’s Release Date Delayed As Huawei Backs Out? Feud Over Branding Emerged?

The lack of official words from tech giant, Google, has prompted rumors that the much-anticipated new Nexus 7 tablet is being cancelled. Words have it that Huawei has cancelled its deal with Google to make the flagship device.

The fallout in the partnership between Google and Huawei, which made Nexus smartphones in 2015, stemmed from the former's condition of exclusive branding. According to a report from WinFuture.de, Google doesn't want to include Huawei's branding in the upcoming Nexus 7 tablet, just like what it did with the recently released Pixel X and Pixel XL smartphones.

However, Huawei reportedly refuses to bend. The Chinese telco giant also wants to build its name more than just a contractor. So in addition to handling the production of Google Nexus 7, Huawei also wants its logo to appear on the new tablet.

With that, Google Nexus 7 tablet seems to be facing delays in release to the market. Previous reports suggest that the company is planning to launch the new Nexus tablet in December, but with the latest news on Huawei's commitment, it may take longer. Google and Huawei are yet to confirm if these speculations are true.

Meanwhile, the latest leaks and speculations about the upcoming Google Nexus 7 include the probable change in its name. Since Google dropped the name "Nexus" in its smartphones and used Pixel X and Pixel XL, the new tablet could be called Pixel Pro or Pixel 7.

Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet is said to feature a 7-inch display, with AMOLED. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 829 processor with Adreno 530 GPU, with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It will also feature a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5,100mAh battery, and a USB Type-C connectivity. Then the biggest hype about the Google Nexus 7 is that it will be running in Google's new Andromeda OS.
