‘Vikings’ Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Latest Updates: Ragnar, Rollo, Athelstan Continue Onto S5?

"Vikings Season 5" production is ongoing while 4B runs the road of redemption for fallen Kattegat hero Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). Sons Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar The Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) will be central after "Vikings Season 4B" but Ragnar Lothbrok will be right there with them alongside Rollo (Clive Standen) and even Athelstan (George Blagden).

Screener TV cites revelation by "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst that Season 5 will not be completely turned over to the younger generation. While "Vikings Season 4B" displays a stark contrast between the rising stars of Bjorn and Ivar against the dimming star of Ragnar Lothbrok, Season 5 has more stories to tell.

"Vikings Season 4B" relays how Bjorn chooses to take a different path from Ragnar Lothbrok and Ivar to journey into the Mediterranean with Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard). Michael Hirst reveals that Rollo will not only help the firstborn of the Kattegat king and shield maiden Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) in 4B for this journey. Rollo will also be well and truly entrenched in the episodes of "Vikings Season 5."

Fans of the History series would also be heartened to know that one other "Vikings" favorite will continue to pop up - Athelstan. As Parent Herald cites "Vikings Season 4B" will bring in Athelstan, likely somewhere in the episodes where Ragnar Lothbrok and King Ecbert (Linus Roache) meet face to face once more.

With "Vikings Season 5" largely believed to be the final farewell of Ragnar Lothbrok in the series, Athelstan is expected to reunite with his friend at the very end. Even then, Michael Hirst stated that Ragnar Lothbrok will continue to exist as he lives on through his renown and his sons.

Meanwhile, Forbes points out that "Vikings Season 4B" has dark days ahead in store for fans. As reflected in the prediction of The Seer (John Kavanagh) when Ivar consulted, "Vikings" leads will know loss and pain like never before in the series.
