‘Destiny: Rise of Iron’ News & Updates: Check Out New Gears From ‘The Dawning’ Update; Skeleton Key Up for Grabs Per Bungie

The latest and biggest update for "Destiny: Rise of Iron," called "The Dawning," will be available soon, but no specific date yet. The update introduces new gears for each set of class and new helmets too. Plus, the much coveted Skeleton Key will be easier to get.

Much like the growing tradition of free updates for the "Destiny" franchise, 'The Dawning' will run from Dec. 13 to Jan. 3. It includes the return of the fabled exotic sniper Ice Breaker, new scoring, and progress system for strikes, updates for 3 old strike missions, and new weapons with exotic ornaments, according to Mashable.

Meanwhile, GameRant reported that the Sparrow Racing League is back with two new courses and many more rewards. Also included in the "The Dawning" for "Destiny: Rise of Iron" is that players will have greater chances of getting the ever elusive Skeleton Key by completing the weekly Nightfall.

It should be noted that this is not character-base, but account-based. Meaning, players will get their first Nightfall clear of the week and not on alternate character run. Besides the Nightfall, chances of acquiring the Skeleton Key will be also higher in the SIVA Crisis Playlist (might be the best place to farm the keys) and SIVA Crisis Heroic Playlist. 

According to GameSpot, Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks get to each have a brand new armor. Bungie's lead concept artist Joseph Cross created the helmet designs. The Titan armor was not designed by Bungie but was from High Moon Studios. And earlier, Vicarious Visions was announced to have joined Bungie for the "Destiny" franchise. Vicarious Visions will be the third game developer to have joined Bungie next to High Moon. 

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" update, "The Dawning," begins December 13 and is slated to run until January 3. However, "Destiny: Rise of Iron" is required to play "The Dawning" for free. The update is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
