'Fargo' Season 3 Cast Additions, Latest News: 'Harry Potter' Veteran & More Actors Join Ewan McGregor

"Fargo" Season 3 on FX has filled up its large ensemble of cast. Recent announcements reveal that a "Harry Potter" veteran, along with six other actors, will join the season that will star Ewan McGregor.

David Thewlis, who played Remus Lupin in the "Harry Potter" franchise, has joined "Fargo" Season 3 as V.M. Vargas. Entertainment Weekly reports that the character is "a mysterious loner and true capitalist" who has ties with Ewan McGregor's Emmit.

Emmit is one of two characters Ewan McGregor will be playing in the FX drama. The character is the more successful elder brother, but the actor will also be playing the role of the younger brother, Ray.

Also joining "Fargo" are Michael Stuhlbarg, who will play Emmit's right-hand man in his business empire, TV Line reports. Scoot McNairy, Shea Whigham, Karan Soni, Fred Melamed and Thomas Mann have also been added to the supporting cast ensemble. The show has earlier announced the casting of Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jim Gaffigan.

With such a big ensemble of stellar actors, "Fargo" Season 3 is expect to equal, if not surpass, the success of the first two series in the anthology. "Fargo" Season 1 was headlined by Billy Bob Thorton and Martin Freeman, while Season 2 starred Kirsten Dunst and Patrick Wilson. Both shows received critical-acclaim and nominations.

"Fargo" Season 3 is set in 2010 and will center on the rivalry of the brothers. Viewers should expect mobsters, murder and mystery in the same brand and tone as the previous stories.

"Fargo" was created by Noah Hawley for television based on the movie by Joel and Ethan Coen. Production for the upcoming season is set to begin in early 2017 for a spring premiere on the cable network.
