Sony’s PlayStation VR Receives Additional 150 Cinematic VR Titles From Start-Up Jaunt

Virtual reality has become the next big thing as Sony's PlayStation VR received additional content. The latest app launch from Jaunt gives Sony's PlayStation VR users access to 150 cinematic VR titles such as "Shaq Goes to Cuba," Zombie Purge," "Invasion," "Pure McCartney Experience from the former Beatle," and many more.

A massive 50 million PlayStation 4 users worldwide get to enjoy the abundance of new content and appreciate the addition to the VR experience. Users need to download the Jaunt app to either Android or iOS phones and watch Jaunt's catalog of 150 titles. Jaunt's library is inclusive of "including more than 150 high-quality and award-winning, immersive VR experiences spanning travel, sports, music, film and horror," according to Trusted Reviews.

With the addition of PlayStation VR, the VR content start-up Jaunt is now available on every virtual reality platform such as iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Google Daydream, and major desktop browsers.

Variety reported that Jaunt started out as a virtual reality camera start-up. However, just like any other company, it placed great emphasis on content distribution efforts in recent months. The company distributed VR titles for its partners and, with the use of its camera system, it participated in the production of select titles.

Jaunt was able to raise more than $100 million worth of funding with investors like Disney, China Media Capital, Sky, and Google Ventures. And then last September, Hearst Exec George Kliavkoff was hired as Jaunt's new CEO.

In other news, Sony recently unveiled support for 360-degree YouTube video. The company also is planning on adding more content to the VR headset, per Engadget. This means that overall, Sony is broadening its system. In fact, just prior to PlayStation VR's launch, Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Worldwide Studios President, stressed that non-gaming would be important. It seems with the addition of Jaunt that he may have been true to his word.
