Chicago Police Take 4 Teens In Custody Amid Ongoing Investigation Over Torture Of Mentally Challenged Man Seen Via Facebook Live

A man who is mentally challenged was tortured by four people and it was broadcasted via Facebook Live. The Chicago Police launched an investigation and the four people are now being questioned.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said in a statement that the video showed brutal acts towards an adult male and the person who took the video is said to be one of the four in custody. Johnson thanked the police officers and detectives who have worked together to catch the offenders. He said that they are now awaiting formal charges.

The victim was reportedly not a Chicago resident and is recovering from the torture. Based on the 30-minute video posted online, the mentally challenged man had his hands tied up and his mouth covered.

The attackers were heard laughing in the background and cursed a lot against president-elect Donald J. Trump and white people in general. They also kicked and punched the victim, as well as cut into his forehead using a knife, Fox 6 Now reported. One of the attackers also urged the victim to say that he loves black people.

Police officials said that the man was found walking on Lexington Street near S. Homan Avenue on Jan. 3. The man was then taken to the hospital for treatment. However, he has not been identified and was in distress when he was found wandering in the streets, New York Post reported.

The authorities were also able to get a call regarding a battery report at a home on W. Lexington near S. Spauling Avenue. Officers believed that the male they found earlier was linked to the battery at the home. They were also made aware of the Facebook Live video later, which has since been taken down.

Meanwhile, the suspects are said to be 18 years old teens and are two males and two females. They reportedly stole a van and brought the man in the Facebook Live video to Chicago. The victim knew one of the four suspects as he attended school with that person.

Authorities are still investigating if the victim went with the suspects voluntarily or if he was kidnapped but a missing person report was filed regarding the tortured man. It is believed that he was with the suspect for more than 24 hours to 48 hours.
