'A Kind Of Murder' Settles For Mixed Reviews; Described As Smart Thriller And Frustratingly Forgettable!

The movie "A Kind of Murder" as it had its limited premiere last month have mixed reviews from critics who were able to see it before everyone else. The critics were not all that harsh however, they wished that the movie delivered more than expected.

The suspense film apparently lacks in different aspects which made it half-baked as opposed to a complete-package film. The period film with story revolving on being obsessed with an unsolved murder coupled with adultery makes for an interesting plot but failed to deliver entirely.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie "A Kind of Murder" revolves around the story of an architect and crime novelist who becomes obsessed with a mysteriously unsolved murder. His mental degradation goes along with the downward spiral of his marriage as he is known to be lusting over a younger woman.

The movie only registered 36 percent on its Tomatometer. Worse, only 17 percent of 248 users said they actually liked the movie. This definitely puts the movie at the bottom ranks for the month of Dec. 2016. Such rating also easily puts the movie at the bottom for the entire year 2016.

Sheri Linden of Los Angeles Times and top critic the story remains an academic argument, struggling to pierce the handsome surface. Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com said that the movie "A Kind of Murder" has a handful of production achievements worth noting, but the rest is frustratingly forgettable.

On the other side of the fence, there is Alex Garofalo of International Business Times with something good to say about the movie. According to him the climax is not nearly as clever as its set-up, but "A Kind of Murder" is a smart thriller.

Different critics have different ideas and feedback about the movie. This makes the movie even more interesting because one can't fully decide whether to like or loathe it.

As added by IMDb, the movie stars Haley Bennett as Eliie, Jessica Biel as Clara Stackhouse, Patrick Wilson as Walter Stackhouse, Vincent Kartheiser as Detective Lawrence Corby, and many more.
