How 'Westworld' Actress Thandie Newton Discussed The Birds & The Bees With Daughters

"Westword" actress Thandie Newton, 44, has two girls who are aware of their mother's past sexual abuse experience. The star made it known to her daughters and have also taught them about the birds and the bees.

Newton's daughters Ripley and Nico, whom she raises with husband writer-director Ol Parker, are budding young women at 16 and 12 respectively. The couple also has a son, Booker, who is 2-years-old.

Newton told Edit Magazine that when she was pregnant with her youngest child, she told her curious girls about sex. "Daddy has a beautiful p*nis, which enters Mama, and these two precious parts of us join together," Newton told her daughters.

It was a good thing the mom got to talk to her girls about sex first because Ripley eventually heard a friend from school who talked about the subject matter differently. Ripley had to correct the boy and proudly told her Mom about it.

Newton also talked to her girls about her sexual abuse experience as a young and aspiring actress. She told them how her first encounter with sex at 16-years-old was a bad one because a director exploited her during an audition.

"Eventually, my 12-year-old stopped me and said, 'Mom, don't worry. I am way cooler than you were at my age," Newton shared. The actress' revelation about her abuse was made public when she did an interview with W Magazine last year.

As a woman, Newton admits she continues to encounter sexism and misogyny, especially in her line of work. It has made her quite outspoken about gender issues, sexual abuse or even the fact that women don't actually support each other in some of these matters.

Due to her honesty and passion in these subjects, the "Westworld" star said she has lost some friends or have been cut off from people's lives. She hopes, however, her children will value her openness and willingness to talk to them about these things.
