Abortion As A Fashion Statement? How Celebrities And Designers Push Planned Parenthood Agenda

Has abortion become a fashion statement? Observers note there seems to be a growing trend among celebrities and designers to subtlety push Planned Parenthood's agenda as evident in recent events.

At the last awards night in Hollywood, young celebrities like "La La Land's" Emma Stone and "Fifty Shades Darker's" Dakota Johnson were spotted at the red carpet wearing their designer gowns and one peculiar statement piece -- a gold pin bearing Planned Parenthood's logo. Some applauded these famous women as smart for showing their support for the nonprofit organization that championed women's reproductive choices including abortion.

The fashion statement was significant because it represented the celebrities' strong political stance against President Donald Trump, according to Romper. It's no secret the Trump government could soon fully defund the organization and Congress has already undertaken some steps.

Before the awards event, New York Fashion Week also became a pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood platform. Members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) distributed pink pins representing the nonprofit. Some designers mounted runway shows with similar statements in support of the organization.

The CFDA, through its spokesperson, cited the move was their civic responsibility to the public, according to CBS News. Like the women celebrities, these designers said they were fighting on the side of the right and good, much to the disappointment of pro-life supporters.

Flaunting support for Planned Parenthood was compared to supporting the killing of babies, which was made worse by making this into a fashion statement, as per Newsbusters. Pro-life groups also mounted their campaigns against Planned Parenthood.

Recently, Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) launched an advertisement that took a jab at Planned Parenthood's services. The group is backing Congress' bid to take funding away from the agency and divert it to other health centers that do not do abortions.
