Getting Married At Disney? Couples Share What Happened To Their Fairytale Wedding

Disney is not just an ultimate dream destination for children. Couples who dream of a fairytale wedding could get married at Disney and those who did are sharing their experience.

The amusement park introduced this service in 1991 via Disney Weddings. The site averagely hosts 1,500 weddings every year in both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.

New Jersey couple Michael and Nichole said the Disney wedding package they availed was the right price at $52,000, not including her wedding dress, photo/video and travel costs. "A New Jersey wedding would have cost way more and we would have gotten way less," Nicole said, as per Cosmopolitan. "That was something we really considered when we decided on Disney because an amazing wedding in New Jersey can easily go up to $100,000," she said.

The pair got married at Cinderella's castle and even rode on the magical coach. "The coach was a must-have. It wasn't even something we had to think about," Michael said.

Couple Raissa and Jo wanted a Paris wedding but when the logistics made it impossible, especially for their guests and families, they chose a Disney wedding. The couple said the occasion was a grown-up and formal affair despite the venue.

"We had very minimal Disney detail surrounding our wedding, but the subtle and small details described us perfectly," Raissa said. A song from "Tangled" accompanied her wedding march and they served food similar to "Be Our Guest" on "Beauty and the Beast."

Michelle Baumann of Disney Weddings told Vice they have not encountered "typical" brides and grooms as the couples' interests and preference vary. They also have couples booking a wedding from abroad.

"Whether they want the princesses or not, they know they're going to get a day that's like anything else," Disney bride Carrie Hayward also told Vice. She got married at Disney because the site offered a one-of-a-kind experience that wasn't like a hotel, church or garden wedding at someone's home.
