'Luke Cage' Season 2 Air Date, News & Latest Update: Is Marvel Netflix Series Losing THIS Cast Member?

"Luke Cage" Season 2 from Netflix is now a sure line-up for the Marvel superhero. However, is the Netflix series in danger of losing one popular cast member? Rosario Dawson, who plays Claire Temple, is now being loudly buzzed to be a shoe-in as Marvel hero She-Hulk.

This article contains spoilers on "Luke Cage" and related Marvel characters, including Claire Temple. Proceed only if willing to preview details on the Marvel superhero and related characters as portrayed in the Netflix adaptation and the comic books.

First off, Variety cites announcement by Netflix that "Luke Cage" Season 2 is definitely happening. The advent of "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" on Netflix initially cast doubts that Luke Cage (Mike Colter) will continue with his own series. The recent confirmation is welcome news indeed.

In the absence of official word on "Luke Cage" Season 2 release date, Slate points out that 2018 may be the likeliest scene. The media outlet is not baseless in this suggestion given that Netflix is releasing the stand-alone origins series of Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in 2017. The same is true for "The Defenders," which congregates Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Jessica Jones (Kristen Rytter).

Also supporting in this Netflix outing are The Punisher Frank Castle (Jon Berthal), Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Claire Temple ( Rosario Dawson). Although the Power Man canon in Marvel comic books have Luke Cage and Jessica Jones eventually ending up together and having their own super baby, the Marvel shows on Netflix still have the bulletproof hero hooking up with Claire Temple. Will Rosario Dawson, however, continue to play Claire Temple by the time "Luke Cage" Season 2 is ready?

Comicbook cites new buzz over Rosario Dawson expressing interest in playing She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The "Luke Cage" star made this known as a response to fan opinion that she would be perfect to bring She-Hulk onscreen. The media outlet qualifies that official She-Hulk talk has yet to make the rounds.

However, if it does come about and Rosario Dawson is the pick for the role, the new Jennifer Walters will have to be distanced as quickly as possible from her Claire Temple association. Still and all fans have no cause for immediate worry. "Luke Cage" fans will still see Rosario Dawson taking Claire Temple on an adventure in "The Defenders" in 2017.
