A mom on TikTok shared a smarter way of hanging Christmas lights on the tree. The viral video has been gaining attention from other parents.

One of the most usual Christmas traditions in every household is putting up a Christmas tree. Decorating a tree can be challenging for some. However, a TikTok mom shared a unique way on how to put the Christmas lights on the tree. When she shared the video, other netizens thought the idea was smart, others shared that they have been doing the same thing for years.

Clare Hooper, the TikTok mom who uploaded the video, shared that she decorated Christmas trees for a living before. The hack that she shared was something that she did when decorating trees since it is easier even when it is already put up as well.

The hack to hanging Christmas lights

The usual way of putting Christmas lights on the tree is going around it. This is called the coil method. According to Hooper, the coil method uses more lights compared to the hack that she shared on her TikTok.

The better method, according to the TIkTok mom, is the zig-zag method. She explained that instead of placing the Christmas tree in the middle of your living room, you should consider placing it up against the wall.

Hooper said that through this was, the only portion that you have to decorate is the front. Also, the zig-zag method can be put up and down vertically instead of wrapping the lights around the Christmas tree.

Why is the zig-zag method better?

The zig-zag method requires fewer lights because the lights will no longer have to go around the entire tree. Also, it is not obvious that the tree is not decorated at the back.

After uploading the video, there were some netizens that shared how they find the idea a little absurd. One netizen asked, "Won't the back of the tree be dull (though) if it's at the wall?" Another netizen said, "I've never been so enraged by anything in my life. The tree is supposed to have lights ALL around it. We don't skip a section."

On the other hand, there are netizens who thought it is a great idea, "Omg, I never thought of this. Buzzing to do mine now."

Others shared the way they do it, "I do zig-zag method but side to side then it looks like I've wrapped them round and I haven't." Another netizen said, "... I go sideways not up and down."
