PlayStation 5 (PS5) Vs Xbox Two Release Date & Price: Two New Consoles Coming, Which One Is Better? [Specs & Rumors Round Up]

The war between gaming consoles isn't going to end any time soon and there are strong indications Sony and Microsoft may release the next generation consoles sooner than expected. These companies typically release new versions of the PlayStation and Xbox between five to seven years, but as Sony and Microsoft are celebrating the second year anniversaries of the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One this November, news of AMD's performance boost has shed new light on these consoles' latest releases.

Per Value Walk, analysts have predicted that Sony's PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Microsoft's Xbox Two could be announced as early as 2018 and be released in the market by 2020. The speculations come as AMD, the premiere supplier of microprocessors, has apparently made it known that it will soon be ready to offer significant and essential upgrades to these gaming companies that would finally bring 4K resolution to their systems.

Interestingly enough, famous titles like "Gran Turismo" and "Grand Theft Auto" have yet to arrive in the current consoles and their releases are still expected to take happen in 2018. The question among gaming fans is if AMD does deliver 4k resolution technology to gaming manufacturers sooner, how far will this supposed upgrade affect the release and development of these popular titles?

It should also be noted that PS4 and Xbox One still don't have the capacity to support 4K resolution video in spite its powerful optimization. The processing power for the current systems can't quite handle 4K yet. But between Sony and Microsoft, it looks like the former company is more open to embracing 4K technology. Per Gadgets 360, Sony has actually started putting 4K to the test when it released the world's first phone with a 4K display last September. Based on this, the company appears to be a few steps ahead of their counterpart in terms of understanding how the technology can be worked to its full potential.

Meanwhile, Clapway reported that Sony and Microsoft may soon be ordering AMD chipsets and also receive cross-platform developments so that video games will appear smoothly on the screen. The presumption is that the new units will contain processors that are five times more efficient than what PS4 and Xbox One are carrying, especially with both consoles moving forward with virtual reality technology.

Another interesting tidbit to this buzz is that the PS5 and Xbox Two are likely to be made backward compatible even as it will adapt the latest x86 architecture, per Value Walk.
