5. Pomegranate

This fruit is packed with antioxidants that lower the risk of having cancer, Alzheimer's and heart disease. A cup of pomegranate juice contains 150 calories and half a cup of its seeds has 72 calories and 4 grams of fiber.

6. Quinoa

Quinoa is a grain crop with seeds that are edible. The seeds contain essential amino acids such as lysine. It also has iron, phosphorous and calcium.

7. Lentils

Lentils have lots of iron and folate. One half-cup of lentils has 8 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein.
